James,

This is easily available in RPG.

- You can get the device feedback info from the INFDS.
- Put a timeout value on the DSPF.
- Within the timeout limit, if CFxx is pressed close and reopen DSPF without the timeout value, moving to the next panel. If CFyy is pressed close and reopen DSPF without the timeout value, redisplaying the current panel.

If you want to get really fancy you can use the DSM APIs, but I really don't think it's warranted in this case.

For over a decade, we've had a splash screen on our QuestView product,
which was originally put in as the easiest way to determine, one way or
another, whether the terminal was 132-column-capable (since InfoWindow
II terminals can have that capability disabled, without affecting the
model-ID code that shows up in [if memory serves] the Open Feedback).

Now, we want to put some meaningful information in the splash screen,
but to do that, we'd like it to sit there for a specific number of
seconds, but also give the user an option to (1) dismiss it, by pressing
<enter>, or (2) hold it indefinitely, until dismissed, by pressing
something else. It sounds possible, presumably using "invite," but I'm
not sure of the mechanics, especially in MI.

As it is, I *think* it already comes up in an "invited" state, as the
keyboard is unlocked (albeit ignored).

When I get a chance, I'll post code snippets from the MI and DSPF source
members. Probably shortened, but relatively uncensored.
