Win95.

There are two reasons for putting a TSR in WinStart instead of
AUTOEXEC: 1) DOS memory & 2) Win95 performance.

1) For both 3.1x & 95, the advantage of using WinStart.bat is base
(640k) DOS memory. Anything loaded in WinStart is available ONLY to
Windows apps, not DOS apps.

So, if you have a Windows app that requires a memory-hungry DOS TSR,
putting it in WinStart frees up that memory for DOS apps (which, of
course, don't need access to the TSR in question).

2) Any 16-bit TSRs or drivers loaded in AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS
require Win 95 to use real-mode (16-bit) drivers to "talk" to them.
This drastically slows down Win95 (whose 32-bit drivers are MUCH
faster). For some reason, this real-mode "back-stepping" isn't needed
if the TSR is loaded in WinStart.bat.
