Dean: > >I ask again -- why has IBM invested >so much time and energy in its other languages, but NONE in CL? Command >language has the potential to be the preeminent "language of choice" >(especially in data warehousing applications) if it would only recognize all >data types, allow subroutines, and allow more than one file to be declared. > Nothing is being done to CL because Rochester owns CL while Toronto owns RPG. Ditto for DDS. I wish IBM would start charging for CL and DDS separately from OS/400. That way there would be a revenue stream which would justify enhancements for existing users. As it is now, if the work does not sell NEW AS/400's, it is not done. Charlie Massoglia, Massoglia Technical Consulting, Inc.
