Is this what you're looking for:

  C             *ISO           Move         DateISO     Number8
   *      Number8 would now contain 19970613

In the MOVE operations between a date data type field and numeric (or
character) field, the value in factor 1 (*MDY, *YMD, *ISO, *JUL, etc.)
refers
to the format of the data in the field that is _not_ a date data type.
