Dean, >RRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrr! How about just structuring your logic so that it FALLS to >the ENDSR? Why should subroutines be any different from mainline logic? A >LEAVESR command would be USELESS if the code were structured properly in the >first place. I've found places for using both ITER and LEAVE, especially >when converting S/36 code. I HAVE YET to find a place in my heart for a >GOTO :-). Both ITER and LEAVE are effectively GOTOs, so your last statement, while technically accurate, is inaccurate in spirit. A "GOTO the end of a SR" can make the code *much* clearer and eliminate a potential source of bugs. When the logic is complex, it's very clear to say: "If this condition is true, we're outta here" as opposed to seeding the loop counter w/ *HIVAL and putting extra conditioning statements along the way to make sure extra code doesn't get executed. This is not a purist veiw, just a practical one. -mark * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * This is the Midrange System Mailing List!
