I'll see what I get.) - < There has been much talk about RCLSTG and if you should do it or not. Al is 1,000% correct in that RCLSTG should be run just in case you have junk on your system. I get involved in this question because I have had at least 20 clients using PC/Accelerator to reduce object conversion time, ask me if RCLSTG was absolutely necessary. I have always said YES but I had one clients who absolutely did not want to do it so I called Colin in Rochester. He is Mr. CISC/RISC developer. Colin said that "Upgrade Assistant can still function without doing it, However, know one knows if a company really has to do it." This is exactly what I had told the client and exactly what Al is stating. If you have been doing a RCLSTG on a regular basis than it might not be so important. However, with Murphy visiting many CISC/RISC upgrades, I believe it should be DONE. The Road Map never mentions the Murphy factor. However, to figure out the Murphy factor, take the object conversion time estimate and * .15%=Murphy factor. I average about 15 clients calling me up every week dealing with CISC/RISC upgrades because they are using PC/Accelerator to do their object conversion. They are ALL want to avoid doing steps in the ROAD Map. Sometimes I am successful convincing them to follow the Road Map. However, about 75% of the time when they do NOT follow the Road Map, they call me with problems. Last weekend I had an IBMer who was NOT following the Road Map. I did not think that all the steps were necessary. I convinced my PC/Accelerator client to start all over and do a Scratch Install on RISC before he continued to WASTE more time and was going have to do a Scratch Install anyway. Why not do it now. So here is word of advice "FOLLOW THE ROADMAP". Remember, you do NOT have to do the entire prep work for the upgrade in one weekend. You can spread the work out over a period of time. I have been assoicated with more CISC/RISC conversions because of PC/Accelerator than any other person in the world. So, I know what I am talking about. There is no such thing as a free lunch. You have to pay for things. If you want an upgrade that goes well, FOLLOW THE ROADMAP. Peter H. O'Connor PAE Inc. 7 Riverway Rd.
