Unless you want to use this old AS/400 as a table you should be looking
for several thousand more dollars to buy the required OS/400 & program
products to run on your cheap used machine !

        Subject: low end AS/400's...

I've been looking around at the deals on older AS/400 systems...
A few
hundred bucks and you get your very own AS/400 or RS/6000. I
found a nice
9404(D10, I think) for aorund $800, or you could get a little
RS/6000
system starting around $500. I'm staying away from rack mounted
equipment
after trying to move a Series/1, which is too bad since they
seem to be
slightly cheaper at times. Anyways, I was thinking it would be
fun to have
an AS/400 sitting in the basement to program on or just fiddle
with(like my
Series/1, but from now on 120v systems only!). In other words,
something
REALLY cheap that won't fill the basement. What should I be
looking for?
Who should I buy it from?
        TIA
