Thank you for a dose of reality. I programmed with a green screen (OK,
a 3179!) for practically my entire career (15+ years) Now that I have a PC
(only with SEU) I can't imagine how I managed without it. In fact, I've quite
forgotten about using my 3179! Of course, now that you remind me about
NPT's, I remember quite clearly my fear that IBM would give us NPT people
to the wolves. And here I am, howling. Of all the people on the list who
should
be thinking about legacy... it's me.
May I (humbly and contritely) make a suggestion? Buy yourself a
PC to develop with and use it for a while. I think you'll find that multiple
sessions,
cut & paste and PC apps (word processing, scheduling and spreadsheet) are
worth the money. You don't need to replace all those 3196's that the end-user
is using, just your own.
