It's not _too_ bad to go into the registry and manually remove the
offending entries. Go to the TaskBar, Start, Run..., enter regedit. Then
use CTRL-F to search for, say, 'Personal' or 'PC' or some other string
(like the directory where the old product was located). This'll give you
most of the leftover stuff.

I know—dweebish at best! But inexpensive.
