  I know of no changes that raised the limit on local controllers, but
if there was I'd like it!  AFAIK it is still 40.

  For remote controllers the problem is not OS/400 but the remote
device.  If the remote device can handle 224 then OS/400 shouldn't have
a problem with it.  There may be implementation issues (such as Perle
uses multiple 5494 emultation in each box - once for each card so each
virtual 5394 is supporting only 28 devices.) but OS/400 should not be
the problem here.
