I think I misunderstand the problem.  I didn't realize you could put data
into a logical file?

But, one thought that leaps to mind is for you to use QTEMP.  Copy or
create the logical in QTEMP and then reference the file as QTEMP/logical1,
etc.  But what worries me is that the logical still points to the original
data, so why bother doing the override or copy?
