Here, it is, straight from the announcement letter: Abstract The IBM 9427 8mm Tape Cartridge Library offers AS/400 users low cost automated tape storage of up to 280GB in a very compact space using industry standard 8mm Tape Cartridges at very low costs per megabyte of storage. Each 9427 includes one or two 7GB 8mm tape drives. The 9427 supports two ten-cartridge magazines for a total of 20 tape cartridges. The 9427 comes in single drive (#0701) or dual drive (#0702) versions. The dual drive feature is field installable. Tape cartridge capacity is 7GB and the instantaneous data transfer rate is 500KBps. Using Improved Data Recording Capability (IDRC), effective compressed tape cartridge capacity is up to 14GB, and effective data transfer rate is up to 1MBps, depending on the type of data. Total 9427 capacity is up to 280GB with IDRC active. The 9427 can be used for save/restore, alternate IPL, program distribution, migration, data interchange, automatic migration of data between DASD and tape, and mass storage for data archive. The 9427 8mm tape drives are capable of reading and writing cartridges written by the 7208 Models 002, 012, 222, 232, and AS/400 internal tape drives. To write cartridges on the 9427 to be read on one of the above tape drives, it is necessary to use a cartridge of the correct capacity (2.3GB, 5GB, 7GB). Full interchange of data is supported with the internal 7GB 8mm Cartridge Tape Unit feature on the AS/400 Advanced Series. +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
