Hi Pete,

The Client Access 5250 needs one more server running besides the telnet.
Try the STRHOSTSVR and see if you can connect. It worked for me!

I have started the telnet server, I can ping the AS/400, and I have set
QAUTOVRT.
I can connect straight "Telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" but it doesnt give you a
5250
like screen (function keys are weird). I do get a connection to the AS/400,
but
I just cant start the Client Access 5250 display. I can get Operations
Navigator
to work. I changed some attributes on my TCP/IP properties that deal with
the
finding my ISP DNS, and that is working. Although, after this change it
takes a
long time to connect to the AS/400, but it finally does connect.

After being connected to the AS/400, I can start the 5250 and I get a 657
error
message, so I put a HOSTS file in my Windows System directory, that had the
address of my AS/400 and its name.

I dont think I am asking too much to be able to want to accomplish this, and
I
thought lots of others were already doing this. It seems that I am expecting
too
much of IP, is the IP that comes with Win98 more robust?

In the end, I guess you just have to sit back and say "Well its a PC, its
not an
AS/400....." thats why we love 'em.

Thanks everyone for all their help.
