     ODBC drivers for PC support (V2R3) were provided for the Windows 
     platform, but they were SLOW by today's standard. The real push out 
     the door for ODBC came with V3R1 and Client Access/400 for Windows 
     (32 bit).

did you have to use a "pure ibm solution", that is, OS/2?    or could this
happen with windows 3.1
