A non-display field takes up space on the screen while a hidden field does not. 
 To further clarify,
a non-display field can be optionally displayed if the correct indicator is 
turned off, while a
hidden field can never be displayed.  Hidden fields are usefull for storing the 
key of a DB record
that corresponds to the subfile record for example.
