Yup. Shadow the subfile in an array or data structure and do whatever is
necessary using the loop counter as an index and key.  It's not very hard.
I'm sure there'd be a perceptible effect on response time if you had to read
several thousand subfile records.  For a hundred or so, it looks
instantaneous.
