        In case your *VRT devices get their model types recycled so that you
won't always know what type the device will be from one session to the next,
you can use the the API QDCRDEVD to get the device type from the device
description.
        Here are some CL program statements from a program which uses this
API.

I have some devices (3197, model C2, *VRT) that I want to have maintain
an active session. The problem is that the System Value QINACTITV is set
to a specific value (120 minutes), so when these devices have gone for 2
hours without activity, they are recycled,  the current job on them is
ended and a new session is started.

So...can anyone think of some creative ways of keeping these devices
active, without changing the system value?
