Stuart,

We have 4 offices in Europe who access our systems via the network formerly
known as IBM Global Network. Our AS/400 response times are under 3 seconds
when there is a lot of traffic. We have 128k pipes in each office there and we
have dual 512 pipes here in Buffalo. Actually our WORST response times come
out of our Alaska office. Between the Alaska telco's and how they get down to
the lower 48, they sometimes hit 4-5 seconds. Also affect heavily be sunspot
activity.

hi,
I'm interested in companies that have a centralised server(s) on one size of
the atlantic, but who have users accessing it from the other (via leased
line and/or web based).
My company is considering a US based server farm, that handles the global
business.
Given the inherant lags over a transatlantic link, what sort of interactive
response time do users experience? It it viable do do this without a
replica server at either end?
Is the performance of local users affected by the remote ones?

Thanks
Stuart
