Rob, FTP is out due to the changes the data would make. We do not have the ability to change the file layout at this time. RTOPCB and RFROMPCB appear as DOS shells and have periodically locked up during our testing. I will keep looking. John >>> Rob Berendt <rob@dekko.com> 05/24 9:34 AM >>> RTOPC and RFROMPCB are perfectly acceptable ways to use Client Access over IP to transfer files. Especially since you are going to load Client Access in the first place. However if you've got a real hangup doing this then you could consider some other gyrations. We have some customers that download data from our 400 using FTP. They have some ftp scripting files setup that work. Anyone using NT workstation has an FTP program. I can provide samples of script. The important thing to remember is FTP has a real problem with packed fields. The beauty of Client Access is that it will unpack fields, join files and provide a multitude of formats for you, like CSV, DIF, etc. So if your AS/400 programmers are bored and looking for something to do, then by all means, use FTP and assign them to write programs to move the data from the file(s) into one common unpacked file. And maybe even insert commas. Otherwise if you want to get things done fast, use Client Access. +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
