During an IV & V Audit we did for a worldwide Corporation,
earlier this year several iterations of 999999 were found
both in the source code and data in files.
Now the code was from a major application provider and
made Y2K ready/compliant via a windowing technique by
the application provider. The client had run tests and
forward dated into 2000 also.
For what it is worth - this is more a quality assurance[Q A]
issue then Y2K. They just happen very near the same time.
Unless you check for the existence and how the Y2K changes
affect the presences and uses of 999999 - anything immediate
or latent can happen.
To quote a Y2K Project manager - "Know thy Data"
AFTER that big speel- I am sure, publicly, it will be another non event
