It's supposed to be a date that is approximately 18 months prior to the current
date.  Or it could be 12 months, or 10, whatever the user wants.

O.K., call me finicky here, but, BLEAHHH!

User requested it, since it was dealing with dates in the past, and soon will be
dealing with dates in the previous century (come January); user felt more
comfortable seeing the actual 4-digit date.
