Here's my technique to solve the problem.  Disable the HR director's
profile or possible one or two of their most important assistants.

When the inevitable call comes, you explain that since there is no
immediate communications from HR to IS when personel leave, that you
must react to rumor. Today's rumor is that you don't work here
anymore!  Usually they get the point.

Oh sure, they complain that they are not notified either but they
still find out way before IS. Departing people need final paychecks
(often different), need to be removed from Insurance, notified of
COBRA options, etc etc.  They know.
