Debbie,
I think some folks are trying to make it an issue... But after seeing it
work, IF you spend the money on a good server to run MetaFrame, you will run
Excel (for example), faster on a 486 Citrix  computer than you will on a
Pentium II... Of course people need to be aware of what kind of wiring
infrastructure they have in place... if you have 10Base-T or greater, Citrix
is going to smoke, your standard workstation.
I am mostly a PC person, but I am not going to argue with my own eyes...
and since I have Cat 5 cabling in place I can't argue with that either...
now from home when I dial up my Citrix box... obviously it is not as fast as
running excel local to the computer...
BUT I have access to all my files and it isn't unacceptable, meaning it is
still faster than my tired brain...
So my straight forward answer, Debbie, is that I do not believe there is a
drop in efficiency by using thin clients, As an administrator and an
end-user I prefer it,  but I do admit that my own humble experiences are
limited...
and it is very possible your friend has valid points, just not in my
shop...(**S**)
