Sounds really cool, but what am I missing, I got a printer defined as an IBM
ipds AFp printer
(which is really a HP8000; running on V4R4 and with client access/express)
tried to get
the file to the AS/400, but it keeps urping up on me, can't seem to get the
files to talk
to eachother (did a crtpf on as/400 at 1024), downloaded to pc, got the
*.fdf file and then
trying to upload back to as/400... or is there a more appropriate way (??hmm
ftp??)

thanks for the info and help

Leo,

You can use client access and a PC application to create overlays without
having to purchase AFP. First create an overlay using your favorite PC app,
print it to the AFP Driver supplied with client access (you will need to
change the properties to indicate you want to create a file of overlay
type). This will create a file on the PC that you will need to copy to the
AS400 - I use a 1024 byte file created without DDS on the 400. Finally, the
CRTOVL command will let you to create a *OVL object from the file.
