Barcode Printers ( SATO ) printing from AS400

I have a custom program currently printing to a SATO printer with no
problems.  This printer is attached to a dumb terminals comm port via via
printer cable and prints great.

Here's my problem.  I have a PC network in another facility connected  to
the as400 via TCP/IP connection.  All devices in facility are PC's running
client access express connecting to the AS400.  I want to hook a Sato
barcode printer to this PC either using Client access workstaion printer
session or using an external print server attaching the Sato printer to it.
It appears the print stream of commands created by the RPG program is
getting cooked before it gets to the printer thus the Sato can't execute
the print commands.  Mostly garbage prints on the label as the start
command or esc printer commands are getting cooked either in Client Access
or somewhere.  Has anyone successfully connected barcode printers to a PC
running as400 software.  IF so, how is everything configured in Client
Access and the device desc. on the AS400.  Can discuss offline.
