Always, always, always define the Primary Key. Just because it tightly couples the definition of what _is_ the primary key for this particular table to the table itself. Damage indices, etc etc is solved with adequate backups. I put my faith in the OS, and let weird "it _could_ happen" stuff go. My opinion.
