This is really for a friend. I have not even looked at a COBOL pgm
since 1978 or 1979. COBOL was the first language I learned and it
was on a S/360. I moved on to the Series/1 before interactive jobs
really started. We were still processing transactions loaded from
punched cards. I have no interest to return to COBOL or even to
research this issue for him. I figured if I could get a quick answer from
this list - fine. If not, then he was on his own.
