>I heard from someone else that the days-used field for a file is not always >accurate, it can get corrupted during upgrades. Is there any truth to this? What I've seen happen is the days used and date last used field get set to zero when the system was completely restored from tape after the addition of new disk. I guess this makes sense, since the system has no way of knowing how long the restored objects were sitting out on tape before being restored. E.g., object XYZ got saved to tape on 8/14/99 and restored on 8/16/99. It may have been used on the 15th, but the 8/14/99 tape doesn't know that. This created problems for us, since we were going through programs fixing them for Y2K and really needed to know what was being used the most so we could address the most important stuff first and also identify code that was disused. Every weekend this site executes DSPOBJD *ALLUSR/*ALL *ALL *SERVICE *OUTFILE QUSRSYS/OBJD to capture object information in a queryable database file. The restore that wiped out the use info happened 8/15/99. I realized that I could restore the OBJD file from 8/14/99 as file OBJD081499 and use it to update the date last used and days used info in future versions of OBJD. The logic was that if the new date last used was zero, update it with the value from file OBJD081499. Then sum the number of days used from both files and use that figure to update OBJD081499. If I recall correctly, this happened on OS/400 V4R1. I suspect it happens on all releases . . . anyone know for sure?
