MIPS anymore is a poor apples to oranges comparison. Your 620 has a 
CPW(Commercial Processing Workload) of 114 the 170 has a CPW of 73.

I am currently filling out a consultant survey that asks for MIPS rating 
of our various systems.  I have searched high and low for approximate MIPS 
ratings for my two AS/400 systems but cannot find them.  Does anyone know 
either where to find them or what they are for the following (ballpark is 
probably good enough):
 
Model 620 with 2180 Processor
Model 170 with 2290 Processor
