Deb,

    We use US Robotic 56K modems, and 3com Ethernet cards on the PC to connect
back onto the AS/400.  We did notice a difference when we went to the new 
version
of PC Anywhere (I think it is 9.0) when it came to painting the screen, they
would paint much quicker with the new version.

    One thing we did a while back is go to a blank wallpaper.  Its just the
standard windows bluegreen background, and that helped.  We also did something
with the resolution, but I don't remember if it was higher or lower that helped.
