Hi
Dare,
Boy this information on changing fongs and printing bar
codes from the AS400 to some printers is almost impossible to decipher.
The printer manuals tend to be pretty bad when it comes to explaining how to do
this. We have an HP Laser Jet 5 Si printer and I figured out how to do
oversized printing and postnet barcode on it. Between it and the AS400 we
have an I-O Print Box Tx interface. We also have the same interface
between the AS400 and a couple of Xerox printers that we
have.
This interface has commands that need to be issued to it. It then
translates the commands into instructions that the printers can
understand. The best part about this is that we can imbed the commands
into our spool file and send the spool file to either the HP or Xerox
printers. We don't have to have a set of programs that only sends out HP
commands and another that sends out Xerox printer commands. Then again if
you have only one type of printer that is not a concern.
Anyway, I-O interface command that we issue to print
postnet is ¬B4,1,1,0,1,0, followed by the zip
code, and then ¬B. What we actually print is
¬B4,1,1,0,1,0,44142146079¬B.
Hope
that helped some.
