John, I am trying to play some old DOS games, (that worked on Win 3.1), on Win 98 & various friends are telling me to give it up, that circumvention of upwards compatibility is impractical, that I will enjoy life more if I abandon games I have loved & just learn the new games that work on the new OS. Well I am able to squeeze out 75%+ of the game value, then when I EXIT from DOS back to Windoze & get a totally blank screen (it is not refreshing the GUI) or an almost totally blank (little pieces appear), I grope in the lower left corner click click cliicking in the dark with my mouse until I connect with the invisible START button & get a reboot between applications. > Subj: Re: Windows BSOD vs. AS/400 > Date: 08/01/2000 11:15:56 AM Central Daylight Time > From: jpcarr@TREDEGAR.COM > > > I love it when I get the dialog telling me > >'Microsquirt X has caused a general protection fault, contact the > >manufacturer' > > I love it when Win locks up using just IE, and Outlook(only things running) > and I have to physically turn off the power and restart it, THEN it tells > me I shut it down improperly and that NEXT time chose the START button and > end Win properly. > > What gall. > > John Al Macintyre ©¿© Y2K is not the end of my universe, but a re-boot of that old Chinese curse. The road to success is always under construction. Accept that some days you are the pigeon and some days the statue.
