Charlotte,
Depends on your definition of backup. BRMS with the ADSM component will
give you the best "backup" in terms of restoring individual files, and other
objects to the server. But, you could carve up and mount a Netserver share and
then xcopy you critical data to a mirror on AS/400 disk and use standard saves
to do thee backups. You could even invest in a new copy of a tool like Ghost
6.5 and put the image back on the IFS and save it through AS/400 save.
Regards INS, depends what you need for peripherals. I personally think
the INS is about to go the way of the Firewall product. Look carefully at the
Netfinity HLS, combination announced with V4R5 before you decide how to
proceed...

Subject: Backup/integration - As400
& NT
Running a 720 v4.4. Is there any way of backing
up an NT server to our 3570 drive without having to buy BRMS ? This will
just be used as a temporary solution. Currently there is no relationship
between the 400 and NT servers, other than they are all on the ethernet LAN.
We are also considering putting NT on the 400,
using an INS card - any gothchas here? How well did this work?
Any ideas/suggestions gratefully received.
TIA
Charlotte
