I remember having lunch with Dick once many moons ago (kind of appropriate 
duration :) 
and we were discussing program performance.  He was pretty pleased with his 
sort 
routines.  He said he'd been asked to write a 'fast sort' so he did.  The sort 
started, 
did its work fast, but nothing else got a look in :)  The console lit up, the 
lights 
dimmed, and the sort ran ....
