Simon, I got the same error creating an UDF in V4R5, the circumvention was: from the interactive sql prompt: CREATE TABLE QSYS2/QSQPTABL (INTEGER_COLUMN FOR COLUMN INTCOL INTEGER ) insert into qsys2/QSQPTABL values(1) Then from the CL prompt change the object owner to qsys and authority to qsys *all public *use.
