The 3110 says Interface error. The drive address is for slot K1, but this can also mean that the system thinks nobody is there. Let's try the reverse of 1 drive out and pull all but K1, IPL to DST and see what happens. The manual you want is the Problem Analyst, Repair and Parts SY44-5956. These guys used to be $500 to $750. IBM is now providing these on CD with each new machine instead of hardcopy. Files are now in PDF with a HTML front end. The PDF for this manual is about 10mb. --------------------------------- Kirk Goins IBM Certified AS/400 Technical Solutions DataMirror High Availability Certified Pacific Information Systems - An IBM Premier Business Partner 503-674-2985 kirkg@pacinfosys.com "WE KNOW TECHNOLOGY" --------------------------------- Douglas Handy <dhandy1@bellsouth.net> Sent by: owner-midrange-l@midrange.com 12/20/00 10:48 PM Please respond to MIDRANGE-L To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com cc: Subject: Re: Entire RAID set non-reporting Kirk, >I would unplug 1 drive of the 8 and try a manual IPL. Work your way through all >8 or until the symptom changes. My reasoning is that if a drive is holding the >buss up some how then removing that drive may isolate the problem. I did that and it didn't change the symptoms, but in digging further the Dsik Configuration Error Report shows all 8 units listed with a reference code of 0000 but the attached 6502 with a reference code of 3110. I can't find 3110 in my manuals either (guess I need more manuals!), but in DST's Service Action Log it shows the top two most likely failing points as: 1 FI01105 Active tape or disk Address 0150 0100 FFFF 2 17G2900 I/O Processor 6502 Address 0150 FFFF FFFF Address 0150 is my SPD bus position for the 6502 card, but I'm not sure which unit the 0100 FFFF refers to. No matter which 6606 drives I unplugged, the address report here stayed the same. Do you have any more information on what SRC 65023110 means? And if the 6502 itself is only the second most likely failing unit, how to I determine what disk unit is being referred to by address 0100 FFFF in the service action log? Thanks, Doug PS - What manuals should I buy to look this stuff up myself? I have the Service Functions, SY44-5902, which is a help but obviously is not the complete answer. I wish they were available online... +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +--- +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
