There are a ton of companies that provide lowcostware to get 400 reports to
PC in popular formats such as e-mail attachments, word processing documents,
spread sheet. etc. There was a recent thread in Midrange_L that you could
check in the archives < http://archive.midrange.com > called "400 report to
PC file" and there was also a discussion I was involved in with my local 400
user group, which does not yet have list_archives called "Re: AS400 going
from spool file to html or pdf"

I cut & pasted some those in their entirety to send you outside the list as
they are a bit long for this place's guidelines & basically consist of a web
site that you can cut & paste, then a short paragraph that tries to define
what it is that this place offers of relevance. I have recently been
visiting some of those sites & 95% of them are good but a few I may have made
a typo or something ... I cannot get to them.

Here is an example of the format of what I am cut pasting from months ago
investigation.

http://www.centerfieldtechnology.com - with their stuff a PC CD_RW drive can
create AS/400 readable CD_Roms ... they also have an SQL tool that puts
DB/400 data into graphical form.

http://www.datawatch.com ... they make Monarch which usually has PC seat
license fee around $600.00 but be patient, they often have a promotion & we
got
ours during a $300.00 PC seat deal ... how it works ... you click on AS/400
spool entry you want Monarch to convert to PC reality & now you can slice &
dice the data in the report, selecting columns & lines to include & you tell
it what PC format you want the data to end up in ... Lotus, Symphony, Word
... graphics package, spread sheet, PDF file, e-mail whatever. It is just
point & click. If you are not doing any slice & dicing yout can get from 400
spool to PC file in a matter of seconds.

I had also made an effort to correlate in chart form which of these
lowcostware packages include which capabilities ... it is NOT uptodate NOR
complete, but a starting point at seeing what is out there.
