Bob,
What I've done in the past is something like this:
DCL VAR(numrecs) TYPE(*DEC) LEN(10 0)
OVRDBF FILE(Myfile) SHARE(*YES)
OPNQRYF FILE(Myfile) +
QRYSLT('Somefield = "Something"') +
KEYFLD(somefield)
CPYFRMQRYF FROMOPNID(Myfile) TOFILE(Qtemp/Tempfile) MBROPT(*ADD)
CRTFILE(*YES)
RTVMBRD FILE(Qtemp/Tempfile) MBR(*FIRST) NBRCURRCD(numrecs)
DLTF FILE(Qtemp/Tempfile)
...
CLOF OPNID(Myfile)
DLTOVR FILE(Myfile)
Hope this helps.

Subject: Getting record count from OPNQRYF
Is there a way within a CL program to get the record count from an OPNQRYF
statement without having to read and count every record in the HLL program?
Thanks,
Bob Luebbe
