After looking at their code I can understand why they are behind. -----Original Message----- From: Jim Damato [mailto:jdamato@dollargeneral.com] Sent: Thursday, May 17, 2001 4:18 PM To: 'MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com' Subject: RE: Lawson? I depends what you mean by "happy". We were running Lawson on the AS/400 for a while, but just upgraded (re-implemented) onto Unix and Oracle. The primary motivation was the fact that Lawson remains 12 - 18 months behind on their applications releases for the AS/400. About five years ago their AS/400 development strategy fell apart, when the anticipated announcement of release 7.0 turned into an announcement that they were going to fall back and regroup. About two years ago they announced that they were bringing AS/400 applications development in line with Unix and NT. These days AS/400 apps releases are a couple steps back, but moving at the same pace. I don't know if they ever intend to get all platforms to simultaneous releases. Lawson ran pretty well on the AS/400. I didn't think I was happy until we moved it to Unix and Oracle, and I learned the true depths of despair. I've jumped on this soapbox too many times on public forums. Please feel free to reply off-list if you'd like more information. Is anyone out there running Lawson on a 400? Are you happy with it?
