My normal method for going through email is to read them in the order received. In the past, if someone asked a question I could answer, I didn't ever really check to see if someone else had answered. That really doesn't change now, unless I make the conscious decision to check the inbox before I start composing a response.

Absolutely agreed! Especially if the archives site remains as slow as it has been lately. Don't know if there's really anything David can do about that.

Dan,

But it will cut down on the number of people making the same reply to a message
in the first few hours because they didn't know someone else already sent the
answer.
The flip side is that you can't just think, "Oh well, I won't bother to answer
because I'm sure several other people already have but their replies have not
shown up yet..."
On balance, I think the fast turn-around is *great*. The biggest disadvantage I
see is that the slow turnaround used to provide an extra incentive of sorts to
search the archives first.
