It should be mentioned in general that the HTTP server is not the only one that requires proper TCP/IP configuration. The info in Shannon's post is pretty much simply a good description of a necessary element of that configuration. The _correct_ HOST and DOMAIN settings plus the host table entry for the _correct_ host name (and any useful aliases) can resolve a number of TCP/IP server problems. The biggest issue I've had is in interpreting the error messages that eventually lead you back to TCP/IP configuration. If a message could just say "Correct your host table entry for xxx" or something similar, a lot of time could be saved. But putting correct values in the configuration from the beginning also saves that time... if only the _correct_ settings were always known in the beginning. Unfortunately, achieving cooperation between AS/400 or iSeries administrators and network administrators isn't always easy; and when an AS/400 is suddenly made to interoperate in an IP network, there's a good chance the AS/400 people will not be given any training -- they're simply expected to know it all from the start.
