I've met a few folks who were terribly disappointed that they could not run
Oracle on AIX in an AS/400 PASE environment. Some of these guys had said
that Linux on the AS/400 showed promise because it would allow you to run
Oracle. I've never heard of anyone who had actually done it, let alone run
Oracle on Linux on an AS/400 in a production environment. To me it's up
there with these guys who run Windows and Mac OS emulators on top of Linux.
I can't imagine that the layers of layers would work well.

A few years ago, as an AS/400 systems manager, I got the opportunity to tell
a Solaris/Sybase admin that we were buying a software application for Unix
and that he'd be responsible for the installation and administration.
Imagine the horror when he found out the vendor ported it from a mainframe
and that it ran UNICICS (CICS for Unix) and the data was in VSAM. If
someone loaded Oracle on my AS/400's I'd probably know exactly how he felt.
