I have configured an *IP attached printer on our as400. When attempting to
print to it, I get the following error in the PDJ job of the writer:

 Message ID . . . . . . : PQT3625 Severity . . . . . . . : 40
 Message type . . . . . : Diagnostic
 Date sent . . . . . . : 12/05/01 Time sent . . . . . . :
09:27:26
 Message . . . . : Connection with device ROCHP10 is being retried.
 Cause . . . . . : A session cannot be established with the device at
RMTLOCNAME 172.24.107.103, using PORT 5001. The error code is 22. This
indicates one of the following conditions:
22: The device did not respond to a connection request.

The printer is an HP Laser jet 1100.

We are using an HP Jet Direct 170X to ethernet attach the printer to our
intranet.

The printer is in New York, the AS400 is in NJ, all ethernet; frame relay
and cisco routers connect the two sites.

IP wise, the printer works. I can print to it from an NT server in Canada.

The AS400 sees the printer. I can ping it from the as400.

To config the printer I ran the following cmds:
     - CrtPsfCfg PsfCfg( GplAmari/RochP10 )
                  IpdsPasThr( *Yes )
                  ActRlsTmr( *NoRdyf )
                  RlsTmr( *Sec15 )
     - CrtDevPrt Devd( RochP10 )
                  DevCls( *Lan )
                  Type( *Ipds )
                  Model( 0 )
                  LanAttach( *Ip )
                  Afp( *Yes )
                  Port( 5001 )
                  Font( 11 )
                  FormFeed( *AutoCut )
                  ActTmr( *NoMax )
                  RmtLocName( 172.24.107.103 )
                  UsrDfnObj( GplAmari/ROCHP10 *PsfCfg )

( These were the config cmds run when I successfully *IP attached a Lexmark
laser printer using an IO corp printer server device ).

The ROCHP10 devices varies on, the writer starts and attaches to the *DEVD
without error.

Any idea why the error code 22: The device did not respond to a connection
request ?

Thank you,

Steve Richter
