The best introduction I found were the SystemView manuals, both System Manager 
and Managed System Services. Not because they discuss the APIs, but because 
System Manager essentially implements the APIs and provides command shells for 
them, and the manuals give examples of using the commands in your own CL 
programs. For example, it provides a CRTPRDLOD (Create Product Load) command.

In general, you can follow through their usage examples and mentally translate 
between their CRTPRDLOD command and the Create Product Load (QSZCRTPL) API. As 
each command is discussed, you get a good picture of when, why and how to use 
the relevant API in your own programming.

I'm pretty sure their manuals weren't intended to be API training guides, but 
that sure didn't stop me.
