Steve, I guess it depends on what the "unix apps" do.  If they're relatively
standard C programs, they ought to work fine under QShell.  I know of at
least one company that has managed to port their product over to the AS/400.
It's a pretty major tool vendor, but I don't know the status of the project,
so I ought not divulge too many details.  But it's a fairly extensive
application - it actually generates C code and then compiles it, and it's
running under QShell just fine.  There were some idiosyncracies - for
instance, if you redirect using pipes, you have to be careful of your
codepage.  But other than that, it works fine.  Not being a Unix guru, I
suspect it's a matter of which APIs you use.
