Hi,

I've been following this thread for the last few days. Keep a few things
in mind.

1). You can now add disks while the system is active. This was an
availability enhancement that was added at about V3R1. (Don't quote me on
the release.) This happened because with the serial initialization scheme
used previously, we were shipping high end systems where it took
(theoretically) 24+ hours to add the disk from DST.

2). If you are willing to be down when you add disk, you can elect an
option to scatter the data from your existing disks. This will take
longer. (This feature was added in V4R4.)

3). The Start Asp Balance (STRASPBAL) command was added in V4R4. It does
a great job balancing data, although it can be PAINFUL(*NOMAX), which is
why the ENDASPBAL command was also created.

We are moving several drives from one iSeries to our new 840-2418-1542

initialize the following:

qty model
30 6717
45 6718
