Suggestions (from several wireless projects)
1. insist on a site survey and test (including a print, not just pinging -
it's not the same!) if in a station house, test with doors open and doors
shut. You would be surprised how much equipment fails from large glass
windows or heavy doors. We
have some wireless in an aircraft hangar, and when the doors shut we lose
it.
Have had 1 'major' company who "claimed" up to specs fail a simple local
site test!
Site survey may also show other sites in the area that interfere (microwave
towers, large glass buildings, etc.
2. get a network printer-imho-much more reliable for printing, and not a
cheap one - hp (not a home printer like the hp1100) or ibm. See the ibm
support pages for which printers work well with as400 (search knowledge base
for "ascii printer support")
3. are you printing overlays?
4. does the software support pjl lan printing or only remote outq?
difference in how you start writers.
