I am real sorry you feel that way.
I have posted on many lists information about FREE stuff that is available
from IBM & other places. I have not personally tried out all of that free
stuff & I do not work for any of those vendors. Rather, I have come across
mention of that free stuff when me looking into what I need.
Other people have similar needs.
The free stuff MIGHT be able to help them out.
Should I refrain from telling people about that stuff because it is a vendor
endorsement?
Some free stuff does not come directly from vendors, but rather from
enthusiasts.

Consider our participation in this list for example.
It is free to participate, although we can send in contributions if we wish.
It is certainly not any vendor that is providing it for free, rather it is
from enthusiasts.
Many of the moderators of individual lists are vendors but they have a code
of ethics such that the lists are not contaminated by advertising whatever it
is they do.

Some of the stuff I know something about because at some user meeting I
attended a mini-seminar put on by this or that vendor & I think that stuff is
neat. This means that I now think I know something about that vendor
products even though I have not actually used them. The nice thing about
these lists is that while I might know a wee bit about vendor ABC products,
someone else knows a wee bit about XYZ, and between us we have shared info
about several vendors that the person asking the question can then consider.

When someone posts a message on one of these midrange dot com lists.
I want to do X ... is there a solution out there.
If there is a vendor that has a solution, I do not see a problem with that
vendor posting a reply that says
I am a vendor that has a solution to X that you asked about.
