I keep forgetting about PASE.  Partly because I hate it and partly because
I think it is the final nail in the AS/400's coffin thus best ignored.

I would be interested to know if you get it working.  I think using PASE
would be the easiest way to implement Samba -- especially if there are AIX
binaries.
