In the real world, number of users receiving sub second response time, IMO, -IS-
the point of all that we do.

MIPS, Mhz, cycles, etc. are just ways for bit flippers to compare weenies.

It's the "users" perception that make or break any system or method.  It's our
job to pick the right choice for the right environment and I don't care how much
hardware and layers of software you throw at an accounting problem, it doesn't
get much simpler than an AS/400 running a green screen application.
